This week
  1. Special Forces is a movie I watched last night starring Djimon Hounson who was awesome in the Russell Crowe Gladiator movie. The movie is about a French journalist in Afghanistan who is kidnapped by the Taliban. The movie was filmed in French and the characters are well portrayed.
  2. Crowd funding for clothes has arrived. My brother in law in San Francisco has pre ordered his super functional hoodie from Baubax. It has integrated technology pockets and a pull down eye mask ! Crowd funding is being applied in so many different and never thought about business models and is really changing the way products are delivered to the market.
  3. Over the holiday break I managed to catch up on lots of reading including this great article in the Harvard Business Review called "Why Organisations Don't Learn". The need to allow failure or testing or prototyping is so important for innovation but there is a bias towards success first. If we are to deliver innovation and therefore success we need to create the right environment to allow creativity to flourish.
  4. Botanical Innovations is an innovative Agribusiness located in Orange NSW. The company is an exciting biotech start-up based in Orange, looks like the basement of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Vats, pools, pipes, valves, gauges and pumps fill the 550 sq. metre shed on the outskirts of town, where Managing Director Kerry Ferguson can be found deeply engrossed in the innovative R&D phase of her business.
  5. Electric bikes. I enjoyed reading this review of the top 10 electric bikes.

If you have enjoyed this week's brief but beautifully curated walk through the web, please feel free to share or forward this email.
