It is Friday 5pm somewhere.....time to log off and enjoy the weekend. In the meantime, enjoy a short but beautifully curated selection of randomness from around the web.

This week
  1. Personal productivity is one of the things I am very passionate about in this always on 24/7 world. I am loving the work flow that is available through IFTTT which stands for If This Then That. The recipes I am using include linking my twitter posts to my blog. Early days but I am really enjoying using this FREE app. Check it out and tell me what you think.
  2. Designed around a spring in the United Arab Emirates, the Oasis Eco Resort is striving to be the world's greenest of its kind. Check it out here.
  3. A new book this week launched by world traveller, work life balance guru Chris Guillebeau called "Born for This: How to Find the Work You Were Meant to Do", an awesome trigger for living the life fulfilling the unforgiving minute with sixty seconds worth of distance run....with thanks to Rudyard Kipling.
  4. See the evolution of game controllers captured by French photographer. A great trip down memory lane for everyone who has played video games.
  5. And to finish the week and as we all use google maps and GPS to get around on the weekend this article is very relevant. As Google painstakingly worked to map each and every road for users to obtain easy and reliable directions to any destination, other companies took advantage of this platform to build their own apps offering even greater utility. One such company was Waze, which has since been acquired by Google, which offered map-seekers even greater utility by providing a user-generated layer of data on top of Google Maps.

Blog post of the week
How to plan a  Disaster Recovery Plan engagement

This blog post is focused on how to plan and scope out a disaster recovery plan. It looks at the objectives, work packages or deliverables and the acceptance criteria. It is more focused on how a client might engage a vendor to conduct a disaster recovery plan. The structure outlined could be used for inclusion in a statement of work. This is a business focused post and not technical.

A disaster recovery plan (DRP) is a documented process or set of procedures to recover and protect a business IT infrastructure in the event of a disaster.

Planning and testing a disaster recovery plan is a prudent part of business continuity planning.

This post is part of a number of articles on projects, you can read more here.
