This week:
  1. THIS AMERICAN LIFE – I’m sure you’ve heard of this. It’s one of the longest running podcasts. Created by WBEZ Chicago, This American Life shares stories that constantly engage – and often bring a tear to your eye.
  2. Stripgenerator – Stripgenerator is about comic creation, not clothing removal--though we wouldn't claim that the two paths have never crossed. The site lets you build your very own customized comic strip in a matter of minutes. Choose from an array of characters and objects, and then bring your strip to life, one square at a time. If you're feeling particularly adventurous, sign up to start your own "strip blog" and have your content featured on the site's home page.
  3. Difference Between – Want to learn the difference between, for example, socialism or communism? Or a violin and fiddle? Try this site.
  4. FailBlog – "Fail" is the blogger-adored modern stamp of disapproval for anything that falls below whatever arbitrary standard a critic feels like imposing. The proprietors of FailBlog.org open the "fail" doors to the world, encouraging readers to submit images of people, places, or things that in one way or another didn't work out right, and then inviting all visitors to vote on how many thumbs down the depicted blunder deserves. Whether the specimen under the FailBlog microscope is a poorly designed building or a curious case of inconsistent pricing, the site's findings are sure to generate some laughter wins.
  5. Popurls – Popurls makes it easy for you to keep up with all of the Web's headlines. The jam-packed aggregator presents the most popular content from social media sites, news sites, and even video sites in a simple-to-use single page.

1. BuzzFeed - With its well-curated content and handling of sensational topics in a sensitive way, BuzzFeed has become an epitome of genuine parallel publishing on web. It’s a website that brings you awesome updates and features from across the globe. It’s not only about articles and GIFs but also about some interesting videos too.

2. Crossfade - Do you want to create a unique audio track consisting of your favorite songs? It doesn’t matter where you’d find those tracks from. Once added, you can save your playlist for later playback as well. If you are a music lover, this is a great feature.

But, you have to make sure that you don’t get too excited and addicted about the person.
This week:
1. Oddee - Love weird stuff? Then you need to check out Oddee , one of the web's larges and most popular blogs featuring the craziest, strangest and most bizarre content you probably won't find anywhere else. Most posts are numbered lists, complete with lots of photos and videos for you to look at. Categories include art, signs, places, objects, ads, science, medicine, home design, names, people, gifts, stories, tech and more.

2. The Oatmeal - Created by Matthew Inman a.k.a. “The Oatmeal,” his popular humor website caters to the avid comic lover and quiz taker. His wacky drawings are mainly based on relatable life situations, education, and crazy stories that would never be possible in real life. Some of the jokes might seem rude to certain folks, but the average, laidback internet user can probably get a great kick out of them.

3. Vsauce - Vsauce is an incredibly popular and successful YouTube channel (with several spinoff channels) that has attracted over 13 million subscribers. Videos focus on interesting educational content where channel creator Michael Stevens teaches viewers about all sorts of amazing topics, almost resembling a modern-day Bill Nye the Science Guy. On the Vsauce website, you can browse through and watch videos across all Vsauce channels.

4. Forgotify - Do you love finding great music via Spotify? Okay, here is the problem. Not all great artists are popular when it comes to a large database like that of Spotify and you might be missing out some of them. Forgotify is an awesome attempt to bring such great but unnoticed artists into the limelight. The next time you want to find a song that will quench your thirst for music, Forgotify will help you. To get started, it offers you a list of the best songs that have been forgotten but re-discovered by the team. The website has been endorsed by many media giants like TIME and BBC.

5. OMGFacts - Do new facts excite you a lot? You should then have a look at OMGFacts , which is a great platform to find a lot of scientific facts and recent happenings. The website has a really simple design and offers different types of content, from common features to investigative-type writings. For someone who seeks science as well as knowledge, OMGFacts is going to be the perfect space to kill boredom. In case you are interested, there is an option to submit the facts you know, so that they can enrich the collection. The facts can help you boost your knowledge as well.

This week:
1. Camel Camel Camel - This website, surprisingly, has nothing to do with camels. It’s an easy to use Amazon price tracker. Throw in a url for an Amazon product and it tells you how the price has changed over the years. You might realise you’re buying at the wrong time.

2. The Secret Door - It won’t open into a dark nook at Hogwarts, but it can take you to equally unexpected places around the world. The idea is simple—open the secret door and let Google’s Street View transport you to an interesting place on the globe. Think of it as a portal for virtual globetrotting. And if you don’t like it, just click the Take Me Somewhere Else button. This Google inspired cure for boredom definitely ranks as one of the more fun ways to use Google Maps and Street View.

3. Museum of Endangered Sounds - Want a dose of serious nostalgia? Maybe, the sound of a dial-up modem will do it for you or the dial of a rotary phone. The Museum of Nostalgia will send you back in time. The single-person effort from Brendan Chilcutt aims to preserve the signature sounds of old technologies.

4. Sketch Something Daily - Creativity is the magic pill to zap boredom. Sketch Something Daily is one of the artistic things to do online when bored. So, pick up a pencil, pen, or even a paintbrush, and test yourself with the daily illustrations on the site.

5. Innovation Station - This is a little known but cool website to go to when you’re bored. It showcases the latest videos on innovation and futuristic technologies. It is a wonderful learning platform. As their charter says, “We aim to inspire and educate by putting innovations and innovators in the spotlight.”

This week:
1. xkcd - If you're into nerdy humor even the littlest, tiniest bit, there's a lot to love about xkcd. Each post features a short, stick-figure comic strip on humor about technology, science, mathematics, and relationships. The guy behind it is Randall Munroe, who worked on robots at NASA's Langley Research Center in Virginia before starting this blog.
2. Pottermore - As a marketer, you might dive so deep into branding your business, you have no time to brand yourself. Even if you're not a massive Harry Potter fan, Pottermore can scratch that itch for you. Pottermore is widely recognized as the official website for finding your Patronus, your wand type, the Hogwarts House you belong to (of course), and much more. The quizzes you take to earn these identities are just obscure enough to hold your excitement for the result, and might even encourage you to read (or reread) the famous Harry Potter books -- something you should definitely do to balance out your time-wasting website sessions.
3. Lose yourself in Letters of Note - This gem of a website curates famous historical letters – including those from celebrities, poets, writers, politicians, scientists, and more. It's easy to do a deep dive and only come up for air 30 minutes later, having read Marie Curie's letter of recommendation for Albert Einstein. The author also runs Lists of Note, which focuses on lists, and Letterheady, which focuses on beautiful stationary.
4. Go to town on e-books with Project Gutenberg -  Project Gutenberg has over 49,000 e-books for free, with more being added regularly. You can download them to your phone or Kindle – or just keep one open in a tab to dip in and out of. All the books featured are out of copyright, so you can expect plenty of Sherlock Holmes, as well as The Call of the Wild, Wuthering Heights, and more.
5. Browse music across time and space with Radiooooo - Radiooooo  is a really neat concept. Click on an era and a location, and listen to the music that was popular there and then. So, if you click 1950 + United Kingdomn, you'll get a swing track. But 1930 + Australia digs up a folk song. Easy to while away a whole afternoon.

This week:
  1. My Fridge Food - Got a bunch of random food in your fridge and have absolutely no idea what to do with it? Stop your fretting. Fret no longer. Fridge Food has you covered. Just click what you've got in your kitchen and it'll suggest a meal you can make. Pop Tarts scampy, anyone?
  2. Apartment Therapy - If you're even a little bit of a fan of home decor or DIY projects, this is a website you might find yourself spending hours and hours on. There's a ton of awesome visual and written content on here. My favourites include their "before and after" series, their "small spaces" series, and the tours of people's actual apartments and homes.
  3. How Long To Read? - Ever look at a book and think, "Damn. Look at all those pages." Well, be intimidated no longer. Use this website to find out how long a given book will typically take a person to read.
  4. Wayback Machine - Feeling nostalgic? Check out what websites have looked like over the years via Internet Archive's famous Wayback Machine. It lets you pick a date and see exactly what any website looked like at that time. (For a real trip, compare how Facebook looked back in the 2000s to today. Remember the wall-to-wall?)
  5. GeoGuessr - A fun game that drops you in a random place in the world and makes you try to figure out where you are. Poland really is beautiful.

This week:
  1. Two Foods - Can’t decide what to have for lunch? Put your two options in here and it will directly compare their health attributes on different levels. Perfect for when you just can’t choose what to eat.
  2. Scribble Maps - Put your own text, images and scribbles over maps. Perfect for when you’re planning a trip or if you need to put in some notes and share them with people you’re travelling with. Can also be used to gag it up and draw anything you like on your hometown, but that’s much less useful.
  3. Type Terms - Type Terms is the animated typographic cheat sheet. If you are new to typography or here to refresh your memory, then Type Terms is the perfect tool for you.
  4. Kit - Another one of these awesome website is Kit. It is a community to discover, discuss and get interesting products – grouped into kits – for activities like traveling, DJing, cooking, cycling and more.
  5. Designer Hunt - A place to find and follow awesome designers, connect friends, hunt freelancers for your projects.

This week:
  1. MuscleWiki, which allows you to click any part of the human body, then provides you with a list of exercises to workout said part. It also describes each exercise and shows you how to do it.
  2. Boredom doesn't mean you should distract yourself with the simplest and most mind-numbing content out there on the web. Try expanding your knowledge by diving deep into the incredibly useful and thought-provoking blog posts on Brain Pickings, which is a popular blog run by MIT fellow Maria Popova. She's the one who does all the research and writing for each post.
  3. Lifehacker is a stylishly named life tips and software recommendation site. The mesmerising appeal of Lifehacker is about how practically useful it is. All the advice focuses on accomplishing more in your everyday life, like how to cook better al dente pasta, how to tailor your daily work to your personal strengths, and how to grow vegetables in your apartment.
  4. Silk is a site to create dreamy works of art with your mouse. Have fun subconsciously drawing genitalia.
  5. Ted is a site with 1900+ informative and interesting talks to choose from you’re guaranteed to find something you love.

This week:
  1. Uncontacted Tribes – This website is a beautiful collection of videos, pictures, and even stories of ‘uncontacted tribes’ which still exist, scattered all over the world. It gives an interesting insight into the way of life of humans who have been untouched by technology, electronics, and other modern facets of life.
  2. Not Always Right – Had a bad day at work? Did that one annoying, pesky customer or client who just wouldn’t shut up tried to give you a hard time, and succeeded? Then this website is just perfect for you! It’s a collection of stories about customers who just don’t know when to shut up. From incredibly funny to just downright horrifying, there’s a little bit of it all here.
  3. the unbeatn path – Here’s something that I’m sure a lot of people will need to read. The unbeatn path features hand-picked and curated stories of young adults who are drop outs, and yet were able to make their way regardless of that fact. It features new and real stories every month, so it’s always worth to give it a visit every now and then.
  4. Useful Science - This is a site good for learning. This website offers the collection of one-line summaries of research published in scientific journals on different topics.
  5. Is It Normal – Do you like to dip French fries in ice cream? The website will help you understand whether your thoughts, feelings and urges are normal or weird and just unique to you. People can ask questions and once it gets approved, the community can weigh in their thoughts.

This week:
  1. Brain Pickings – Boredom doesn't mean you should distract yourself with the simplest and most mind-numbing content out there on the web. Try expanding your knowledge by diving deep into the incredibly useful and thought-provoking blog posts on Brain Pickings, which is a popular blog run by MIT fellow Maria Popova. She's the one who does all the research and writing for each post.
  2. Explosm – If webcomics are your thing, then you have to be familiar with Cyanide and Happiness – one of the most popular and funniest webcomics out there. There's a new webcomic every day, but you can also head on over to the website and press the question mark button over and over again to view random comics.
  3. Engrish – This is a site that takes photos from all over the world of things like signs or product packaging that are riddled with spelling and grammatical mistakes, or just convey an entirely different message due to translation errors and extreme unfamiliarity with the English language.
  4. Mix – Sometimes you want to surf the internet, but don't want to do all the paddling. For that, there's Mix. Mix lets you set your reader profile and then share the articles, photos, and videos you discover from your own personal "mix." It's a convenient way to entertain yourself and learn new things by simply telling the web to surprise you.
  5. Cracked – According to the site's slogan, Cracked is “America’s Only Humor Site Since 1958.” Cracked is famous for their timeless list posts. Columnists and contributing writers craft witty, funny articles on topics ranging from history to TV & movies to internet tech.

This week:
  1. Bought it once – Are you frustrated with having to replace common household items every few years? Ever had the hankering to invest in something that will last you a lifetime, one that will withstand the test of time and usage? Then this website is just perfect for you! It presents a curation of products that were designed with durability and style in mind.
  2. Blue Ball Machine – For those who are looking to trance themselves out, a repeating, looping gif of a “blue ball machine” is guaranteed to keep you entertained for hours. It’s fun trying to figure out how all the little animations flow into one another, tracing the movement of the blue ball to another section, then another, then another. It’s also very calming to look at!
  3. Patatap – Patatap is an interactive website that responds to the keys on your keyboard with a sound and a brief animation. Now imagine hammering in entire sentences – and you got an explosion of sounds, colors, and movement! Once you start typing in random paragraphs, it becomes almost hypnotic, in a way. A fun way to unwind and relax.
  4. CoolThings – CoolThings is a collection of cool things. From entertainment, to gadgets, to even toys and inventions, there is bound to be something here that will interest you. There is even a section for really cool gifts, split into categories for men, women. It updates every day, so make sure to drop by once in a while for your fix of really cool stuff!
  5. The Derpiest – An assortment of the derpiest people, animals, stories and more, the list goes on and on. Ever had a day when you felt like the proof of your intelligence was being threatened by something you did? Ever had a day when you just felt plain stupid? Worry not, for this website will help you feel smart and able again! Personally, my favorite category is the derpy animals.

The topics range from fashion to relationship advice – an attempt to fill the void that has been created by magazines that try to perpetrate the idea of a “machismo” man. Although solely aimed at men, it can be an interesting read for women as well.
  5. Zooniverse – A really neat website that brings people together to create one of the largest platforms for people-powered research. Volunteers come together to assist professional researchers. There is no need for a specialised background or training; all you have to do is to answer simple questions.

Project Close Checklist

You finally delivered the project and had the go live drinks. The team is now breaking up but there are a few things the project manager needs to do to make sure the project is closed and wrapped up. These are grouped into:
  • Scope management- did everything get delivered
  • Risk and issues- what is still outstanding
  • Financials- did everything get paid ?
  • Resources- have resources been re assigned ?
  • Lessons learned
  • Documentation & archiving

This week:
  1. Timelapse – Watch how a place has changed over a period of three decades through a series of satellite images from Google Maps. You can use the “Explore our World” link to watch the timelapse of any location on the planet (world.time.com).
  2. Reasons My Son Is Crying – If you are a new parent, you’ll love this one. It documents the different reasons that little children cry for as submitted by parents around the world. Also available as a book(reasonsmysoniscrying.com).
  3. LOL My Thesis – This site created by an Harvard University senior creates funny and lighthearted one-line summaries of thesis like this one submitted by a Sociology student – “It turns out, an only child never fights with its siblings.” (lolmythesis.com).
  4. Useful Science – This website offers a collection of one-line summaries of research published in scientific journals on topics ranging from health to productivity to creativity. (usefulscience.org)
  5. BoredPanda - The website deals with everything funny in the world of internet. The site mainly focuses on photo heavy listicle contents. The articles are really fun to read. The panda might be bored but you will never be.

This week:
  1. 100,000 Stars - This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen on the web. It shows a representation of galaxy with stars inside it. You can take a tour which starts from the Sun and takes you to the outer edges of the galaxy while teaching you valuable insights in between.
  2. The Odd 1s Out - Another comic strip website which is really hilarious. The comics are a satirical take on everyday life questions and just funny stuff. They also have a corresponding YouTube channel if you are interested.
  3. How Stuff Works - As the name suggests, the website focuses on detailing how stuff works. From soda fountains to tornados, you will find everything here. Everything is written in a short and easy to understand language. You will have fun and also learn a lot here.
  4. Nautilus - A great place to read informative and impeccably written articles dealing with a multitude of topics which can be broadly divided into science, history, psychology, and autobiography. If you are looking to learn while passing time, there’s no better place.
  5. WiKi How - This is the answer to all your question. If you ever need to find how to do anything and I mean anything (just don’t go crazy), you can find it here.

    This week:
    1. The Moth - If you love the art of storytelling, you are going to love this website. The website houses real life stories told by the people themselves. It also has a podcast which features all the stories told across the world on Moth stages. These are literally stories for your ears.
    2. Little Alchemy -  This one is a fun little time killer. As its name suggests, the website deals with the process of transformation you achieve when you start mixing different things. You start with Earth, Fire, Water, and Air. The goal is to create as many different materials or objects as possible.
    3. XKCD - The website contains original satirical comic strips relating to romance, math, and language. You will laugh so hard that tears will come out of eyes. If you love maths you are especially going to enjoy this one.
    4. Wait But Why - The website is pretty cool and deals with normal news and other content related to life. Some simple stick figures are used to explain the topics in a funny way. The website surely seems eccentric and funny.
    5. This Is Why I Am Broke - This is a great website for discovering new gift ideas which are distinct. The products range from a few dollars to a few thousand. There’s something for everyone here.

This week:
  1. Laughing Squid updates with several new posts a day featuring the newest, freshest content. Posts are kept pretty short too, making it perfect for browsing casually.
  2. Hyperbole and a Half is a wonderfully colorful and comedic site to browse through. It is hilarious and immensely relatable.
  3. Writing about your emotions can help you to feel better mentally and physically. There’s a website urging you to do just that. As a Novni author you can write with complete honesty and remain totally anonymous.
  4. If you’ve got a math or science question—or you want to help someone with a math or science question--check out Brilliant . More than 1.5 million people use it as as a learning and teaching platform.
  5. Freedom app blocks anything from the entire internet, to singular websites, to smartphone apps on IOS or Windows - certainly a wide range of coverage.

This week:
  1. Online Gaming Website: Miniclip is the world’s largest online gaming website. Browse through and find your favorite.
  2. Social Networking: A forum of good ideas and conversations, Hubski has a passionate, growing population which seem to take pride in avoiding the nastiness that large communities seem to encourage. It brings to the table a sort of mix of Twitter and Reddit.
  3. Web Magazine: AddictiveTips covers everything from hardware and operating systems to software reviews and hacks. The audience includes early tech adopters, social media enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, technology journalists, bloggers, and geeks.
  4. Top Ten List: A website listing top tens for a wide range of subjects- movies, music, games, websites basically anything you can think under sun. It also helps you decide buy comparing products.
  5. Shark Tracker: Tracking sharks as they swim around the ocean may not be the most interesting way to waste time on the internet ... but it might be the coolest. You can zoom in on a specific location to see which sharks are hanging out there and where they've been swimming and traveling for the past year.
